The last time we raced at Midvale, which was at the 2007 Fall Classic, we had a great time. So, I was looking forward to returning to the 3/10-mile track near New Philadelphia, OH. The straights are just the right length, and the turns are also proportioned well. The track is simply a blast to drive. We had a nice field of 13 cars that ran all the races flag-to-flag with no cautions.We finished 5th in the Heat and 10th in the Feature, finishes that match our last race at Barberton. This nice thing is that we were passing some cars, and were not as far off the pace as we have been in the past several weeks.
I also want to send out well wishes to former Northern Ohio Legends racer Jonathan Reitter, who was involved in a scary crash in his Late Model at Midvale. Jonathan's car turned suddenly into the front straight wall, crashing hard. The fuel pump was sheared off in the crash, and the fuel and sparks resulted in a scary fire. Thankfully, Jonathan escaped the crash uninjured.
