Good Run at Barberton

Qualified 9th, finished 3rd in my Heat race and 7th in the Feature at Barberton Speedway, which is our best showing at the tricky place.

Last Saturday night was also our first night managing the series. Thanks to all for the positive comments and support of the format changes. The fans were treated to some close "Saturday Night" style racing, which is why we are there in the first place.

Look for more in-car video, which will be posted after we get some time to edit out the caution laps from last Saturday night.

Happy Easter!

Here's wishing all of you a very Happy Easter.

Our New Car on Display at Summit Racing

Our new car is on display at Summit Racing, as part of the Barberton Speedway promotion, until Tuesday evaning, April 6. Thanks to all who have sent positive comments on the car. Dennis Knox did a great job of rebuilding the car, and Rowe's Body Shop, of Akron, did a great job on the paint.

We would also like to thank Richard Lushes, owner of Barberton Speedway, for giving us the opportunity to take part in this display.

Test and Tune Ends in Oil Leak at Barberton

On March 27th, we took the sedan to the Test and Tune at Barberton Speedway to get some break-in time on the new engine. We ran the car three times, increasing the maximum RPM with each run. Two laps from the end of the last run, I began to smell oil. There was no smoke visible, so I completed the run and pulled into the pits.

After taking a closer look, we determined that an improperly installed valve cover gasket was the culprit. it was a little frustrating, as the engine is a brand new engine from the U. S. Legends Engine Shop, but it was better that it happened during break-in rather than in an actual race.

First Place!

Reversing the order from last year, we finished first in the Track Comp Dwarf class at the Federated Cleveland AutoRama this weekend, and friend Dave Spotton finished second.

See Our Cars at the Cleveland AutoRama and at Summit Racing!

We will have both U.S. Legends cars on display at two different locations this weekend.

First, the '37 Ford Coupe will be on display at the Cleveland AutoRama alongside Dave Spotton's U.S. Legends car. In what has become an annual event, we've upgraded our display design. Dave has completely reworked the stanchion setup, and we will tile the space as we did last year.

The Cleveland AutoRama is at the Cleveland I-X Center from March 19-21. Hope to see you there!

And, our new '34 Ford Coupe will go on display March 17th at Summit Racing Equipment in Tallmadge. The car will occupy one of the turntables, and the other will feature a stock car from Barberton Speedway. Thanks to Richard Lushes, owner of Barberton Speedway, and Summit Racing for the opportunity to display the car.

The car will remain on display until April 5th. Look for video and photos soon.

Our New Car!

We've added a second car to the fleet, and it is a nice one. It's a '34 Ford Coupe that has seen very little action, and was recently rebuilt by Dennis Knox. Dennis did a great job on the car - it's a showpiece and one of the nicest U.S. Legend cars I have seen.

Signs by Trey duplicated the graphics used on our '37 Ford Coupe, and, as always, did a great job.

I need to take care of a few things before racing the car. Due to work and racing schedules, expect to see the car hit the track at some point in June.

Looking Ahead

We've had a very busy and eventful winter so far. In early December, I ended up in the hospital with a very bad bug that required more attention than we could give at home. Rebecca had surgery on December 17th for heel spurs, which has a very long recovery time. A couple of weeks ago, she returned to the hospital with a blood clot that had moved into her lungs, which could have been a grave condition if it had not been addressed.

In the midst of all this, some good things were happening on the racing side. Dave Spotton and I installed a new U.S. Legends Cars engine in my car over the holidays. Progress with the series has been good as well, thanks to help from Dave Spotton and Frank Williams. We have a series sponsor, TeleCommunity Credit Union. We also have a complete schedule now with races at Barberton, Midvale and Lake County Speedway. Yes, we are returning to Painesville - soon to be renamed Lake County Speedway - after a several-year absence. I spent the first four years of my racing career there, and I can't wait to turn laps there again.

Barberton Speedway has our series there for 15 events. I would like to thank Richard Lushes for his interest in our series. We draw very high car counts there, so it makes sense to have a good number of the series events at the place we draw the most cars.

We are also pleased to be back at Midvale. In my eyes, Midvale is laid out about as perfect as a track can be. The straights are a nice length, and the turns are a nice radius as well. It's very easy to get used to and a lot of fun.

Stay tuned for more updates. Hopefully, the hospital visits are behind us, because this is shaping up to be a nice season.
